How do you reserve Character names for GW2?
Yeah, I have a feeling the answer will be they haven't implemented the option yet in GW...
Just want to make sure. |

I don't think you really have to do anything. We link our GW1 and GW2 accounts together and no one will be able to use a character name from a GW1 account unless it is linked to their GW2 account. Not sure exactly how this will work, but I think that's the general concept.

I think they are reserved via NCSoft link. Not too worried about saving names though, seeing as your characters will be really long into the future grand kids I'm not naming my character after my GW1 guy.

It's automatic, just link your GW2 account to your GW1 account and you get access to the names

What if you link your GW account and you don't want your name reserved? Will you be able to play a linked GW1-2 account with a different name?

Here is your answer; http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hall_...o_Guild_Wars_2
Here is what it says: "This feature does not allow characters to be transferred between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2. However, it does allow character names to be reserved. " |

I don't know if they'd consider doing this, but I would like it if at release of gw2, they posted a message on gw letting people know they can reserve their account's character names for use in gw2, but that if they have not done so by a certain date, those names would no longer be reserved. This would probably cause some headaches they don't need. But if there was a way to do it without too much grief, I would like it.

I believe they have said the there would be a time limit on the name reservations. If you had not reused it within a certain amount of time, it would be released. But this statement was years ago, and we don't know what might have changed in that time. Basically, most of us believe if you purchase GW2 and link it to your GW1 account, then you get HoM benefits and name reservation (possibly only if the character has items in the HoM).
But this is just speculation until ArenaNet announces how it will function.

Is there anyway to reserve char names not linked to your Gw1 account? or are we just going to have to wait and hope we get the names we want? =)

You would have to create the character to make it yours.

Excuse me if I misunderstood... but we will only be able to reserve our current GW1 character names?
Does that mean that we can only reserve names that include two words in them? |

Yes. Name reservation will be via account linkage of some kind so unless you make a character on your GW1 account with the name you want you won't be able to reserve it. So the answer to the second question is also yes because you cannot make a character with one name in GW1.
